Ultrasound What To Expect

For the last few months I have felt sick with vomiting pretty much every day, dizziness and have fainted, I have no energy and sleep all the time. My br___ts hurt and are bigger, my stomach has a pulling/dragging feeling in the muscles at the side and I am incredibly tender there and slightly swollen. But again I have had periods although they are nothing like they are normally, especially the last one which was 2 days of spotting then a bit heavier but still nowhere near normal. I took a urine test and it said negative but now I dont know what to do, any ideas? I have been asked by my doctor to go for an ultrasound but would like to know what I can expect! Also my doctor has not ruled out pregnancy but could it be something else?

There are 2 kinds of ultrasounds. You'll probably have the "normal" kind. All you will do is lay down on a table (they will dim the lights) with your belly exposed, they will put some really cold gel on your belly and run this little roller over it. This will allow them to see everything going on in there on a TV monitor. There is no pain what so ever. What's so amazing is that if you ARE pregnant, you will be able to see the beautiful life you created. (the other way they do it is by using a device that they insert v____ally. they used this on me for the 1st ultra sound for each of my kids, and the normal way for all the others. i think the v____al ultrasoud device gives them a more accurate picture during the early stages of pregnancy. anyways, it's only slightly uncomfortable) hope this helps best of luck to you!

It is useful, I think I am having the first from the booklet I have been sent about it. I am going for my ultrasound on the 29th November. I think I have most of the symptoms of pregnancy. I just want to know for sure...looking around this site it seems quite a few people have been pregnant and continued having "periods". I just know something isnt right and it seems to point to pregnancy. I know Im babbling! Does it sound like Im pregnant or is it just me?

Bounce, bump, sorry. I would just like another opinion if possible. I really want to know what the chances of me being pregnant are.

When I said tenderness and swelling I meant across my stomach and down above the pubic bone bit is tender and my stomach seems to stick out slightly more and is relatively hard. I took my test at around 1pm on Monday.

Ohhhh, okay. Yes, there is tenderness near your pelvic bone. Sorry for the misunderstanding. About how far along would you suspect you are in this pregnancy if indeed you are pregnant?

I would be around 16/17 weeks, I just really dont know what to think. I know its quite a way along a pregnancy but everything seems to point to pregnancy, even my body shape seems to be changing, its not the same as it was a few months ago. Its my birthday today as a random add on. I wish I could have known what was going on for my birthday! That would be a nice celebration if I was pregnant - even if I would be a single mum.

For some reason my stomach has been really itchy the last couple of days as well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I think you should go to the doctor and get everything checked out. You have pregnancy symptoms, but like I said before, you also have non-pregnancy symptoms. It's hard to believe that you could have a false test result and be 16-17 weeks along. Tubal pregnancies can give you all the symptoms with a negative test result. They can be very dangerous to your reproductive organs if not taken care of ASAP. Please get to your doctor.

I thought that if there wasnt enough hormones to stop your period then there wasnt enough to make a test positive? Thats what I have read on the site anyway.
