Our doctor told us that at 7 weeks pregnant (9 weeks including the time of my last period) our embryo/fetus is slightly smaller than it should be (about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks). There was no heart beat heard yet. He is asking me to come back at the end of eight weeks to determin if there is a problem. Should I be concerned about the size of the fetus at this stage. Is it posssible that everybody is different and that the fetus will catch up? He said that everything else looks fine (in terms of placement in the womb and development). Also, what about the heart beat? When should we be hearing the heart beat of the baby?

You may just not be as far as you think! it's very hard to hear the heart beat before 8 weeks i wouldn't worry to much just take care of your body!

I went to the dr at 9 weeks and the nurse didn't even try to hear the heartbeat. She said you can't hear it until 10 weeks. My next appointment, 13 weeks, we heard the heartbeat right away. It brought me to tears. It was great.

I didnt get to hear my baby's heart beat until after 14 weeks and thats because I rented a doppler. But the doctor didnt hear it until 16 weeks.
