i got an early ultrasound they said i was 8 weeks 4 days along. i counted back and i was in the middle of my period. I asked my doctor if that ment i ceoncieved on my period, she told me that 8 weeks means really 6 weeks. How is this possible?

Welcome to the pregnancy calendar confusion :) The calendar the ob/gyn (and everyone who is/has been pregnant) uses is based on the first day of your last period as opposed to the actual day of conception (typically 2 weeks later). Therefore, 8 wks 4 dys means the embryo is actually 6 wks 4dys old from the day you conceived. Do you understand now or did I just confuse the hell out of you?
