Umbilical Cord Wrapped Around The Baby Once

hi, how dangerous is it for the umbilical cord to be wrapped around the baby just ahead of birth. my wife is due and we have just found this out.

The cord is around the neck at least once in 30 percent of births... Of those, less than 10% are twice, and only a percent or two are three times or more. If it's not tight and only once, the doc will simply loop it over the head; even if twice and loose, same scenario. Problems arise in some VERY RARE cases where the cord is in the way of the baby's progress. In that case it has to be clamped and cut as soon as it is visible. I have the same concern, and I asked my mom has been a gyno for over 25 years and has never had an umbilical cord create a problem she could not handle. She also told me that with today's monitoring tools, working around the problem is 100% easier than the older times. I hope this helps
