Is it safe to visit nursing homes while you are pregnant??

Not another one - November 24

What is with you people asking these ridiculous questions. Don't you think nurses have been pregnant working in them. Why on earth do you ask such a crazy question?

Well... - November 24

Obviously you people don't know much about nursing homes. Some people in there are senile, and can in fact hurt you. Maybe not on purpose, but it has happened. And then there is sickness. Old age homes have germs that are VERY easily spread. So no this q wasn't stupid. Lot's of old people get sick really easy from lowered immune systems. Same as Pregnant people. SO THERE :P

Actually your immune system is stronger when you're pregnant. It is a good question, though. Most of the nursing homes I've been in haven't been that clean. Still, when I was pregnant with my first child, my husband's grandmother was dying, and we went to see her every week in a nursing home. I never even had a cold while I was pregnant.

Well I am a PA and 5 months and work in a nursing home. It is ok.

Hey Jbear - November 24

Your immune system is not stronger when pregnant or so the drs will tell you, which is why it is recommended that all pregnant women get that mostly ineffective flu shot.
