Weight Question

Advice? - April 15

I am close to the end of my pregnancy and getting a sonogram once a week because I have diabetes. How accurate is fetal weight? I am worried my baby may be bigger than the almost 7 lbs they say she is. I am only a few weeks out delivery...thanks in advance.

I would think you should feel thrilled not to have an underweight baby. Congrats and best of luck!!!!

They are fairly accurate when determined by an ultrasound. When your doctor feels your belly and takes a guess, take it with a grain of salt. My doctor predicted a 10lb. baby, and she ended up being 8lbs 3 oz.

Hello... the week before by daughter was born she was estimated at 7.8 lbs, when she was born she was 7.10 lbs, in my case they were accurate and in many of my friends pregs they have not been to far off, so I would say it would be safe to trust your doc's... My daughter was even born on her due date, you can't get much more accurate than that. :)
