I'm an HR Manager and wish I could stay at home after the baby is born. I just know that it won't happen due to finances.

I am a Graphic Arts Coordinator (I print forms and handouts for 2 hospitals). I'm planning on staying at home.... but I'm scared..... The only time I've been home was 9 years ago when I was temporarily unemployed... It was awful - I got so depressed. It has really all hit me today what I'm giving up.... I don't feel the reality of the baby strongly enough yet to sense what I'll be gaining.

I am a paralegal/personal a__sistant/office manager/everything else my boss needs girl. I am 11 weeks pregnant now and will work part time in the office and part time at home once the baby comes. Like Kelly K I wish I could stay home all the time but due to finances that is totally out of the question.

I am a paramedic and a vol. firefighter. I also work in a coroners unit a__sisting in investigations. I am saving to finish my Physicians a__sistant masters. I want to work in pathology doing autopsies. Morbid I know... I am going to cut out a lot of my work once the baby is here.

I am a graphic designer and I am currently employed full time. I too need to bring in some income after the baby comes. I will be able to take 6 mos off for sure. After that I hope to find something part-time or I would like to freelance from home. Maybe this company will let me work part-time in the office and part-time from home. We'll see. I think I'm going to break the news to them next week. I am 12 weeks along right now.

I am a divisional planner and my account is Dillards...has anyone heard of that dept. store? I will only be able to take off for 4 months. my income is needed.... the cost of living here in northern california is outragous.

Missy - March 10

Monica - try comin' down south!! I live in So California (Orange County) and we just bought a townhouse for $400,000 - and we don't even had a real yard, just a patio in front. I make more money than my man, so I for sure can't be off for too long - I will be back to work as soon as the Doctors let me = (

I run a car lot full time...just dream of being a stay at home mom

I moved east from N CA a few years ago.... wasn't interested in the $2000-3000/mo rent, and $1000 power bills anymore (Napa Valley). The East is great - the fanciest house I've seen in town costs $400k - and that's unusually high (its over 4000 sq ft).

monica - March 10

missy, I totally understand. Where I live you get a 2 bedroom 1 bath hole in the wall for $600,000. Its very depressing. Looks like most of california is not affordable....

Missy - March 10

LOL - I can't believe that $400K is outrageous anywhere!!! We got an awesome deal on our place and it's 1400 sq feet. It cracks me up how different the economies can be. Monica, where in No Cal are you?
