the mucus plug is a very thick mucus that covers your cervic to protect your baby against any bacteria and such from entering the uterus. Usually about a week or two before you go into labor some of it will thin and come out. Sometimes it doesn't. Just one of those joys of pregnancy lol. Good luck ladies!

Misty hit it right on. It is nothing to worry about. When you loose it you will either go to the bathroom and wipe and wipe and never seem to get rid of it, or it will all come out in your underware. It looks like very thick snot. Its pretty gross, but thats how you know labor is coming on soon. Some wemon loose it up to a month before birth though, some may never loose it
