Hey, I have a 17 month old and always remembered reading about holding off on peanut butter, so when can I give her, her first PB and J!!! :)

I don't think it would hurt her she is over a year old. I do know that you shouldn't give a child honey be4 they are a year old. Look it up or call your Dr. Just put the peanut b___ter on thin.

I just looked it up and if you or your family have a allergy then to wait until the child is 3. Thats according to the American academy of Pediatrics. If no allergy then its a good source of protein. Also when you do just look for signs of a allergy to the peanut. and not to give whole peanuts.

I asked the ped at Jackson's 12 month appt., telling her that Jackson's 1st cousin has very severe nut allergies (they say it's on the other side of her family). The ped said they are saying to wait until 2 for any peanut b___ter or nut products, but especially is there is family history of allergy.

I've always been told age 3 with my kids. Just another little tip, too... when adding new foods, add them in the morning... this way if there's a rxn you can take them to the ped in the daytime and not have to call after hours... I learned the hard way!

Look up the recall on peanut b___ter - it's grown to include Carvell toppings and some other peanut b___ter stuff.

I was told until they are 1 by my ped.

give it a try...just a little bit for 3 days...if no reactions...then she's ok, not alergic. Good luck:)
