I can't really find anything that explains what it is that causes backpain. I am 8 weeks preg. and I have backpain constantly. Do any of you know what it is about pregnancy that causes the back pain?

I had severe lower back pain at about 8 - 10 weeks and the doc said it might be my ligaments loosening. It went by the time I was 14 weeks. Back pain can also be caused by the change in your posture. As your womb grows it causes your back to become more curved. I found a hot water bottle helped relieve the pain a lot. Hope this has helped a bit. Goodluck.

As your uterus grows, it pushes the front of the pelvis down. The back pushes up in turn. The muscles become tighter causing back pain. DONT PUT HEAT ON YOUR LOW BACK. Your sacrum tends to be swollen anyway due to the weight and support it lends. Heat causes more inflammation. Temporarily, it will stop the pain, but in the long run it does much more harm than good. Always use ice on the low back.
