If the hpt or doctor's urine test say if you frequent urinate you can get a false neg then how can be sure you are not pregnant after you test farther along in your pregnancy. I read after the first trimester your hcg level drops and the placenta takes over. If that is true is you are about 4 months or later pregnant an ultrasound is the only way you can tell.

That would make sense because my aunt got a whole bunch of false negatives when she was pregnant with her girls... and that would explain it...

Have your doctor to a blood test. It's more accurate then a urine test.

Your hcg level does not drop, the only change is that the placenta takes over the production instead of mother's body. It still circulates in the blood and through the kidneys so it should still be detectable.
