Yeast Infection Freaked Out

I went to my 38 week check-up yesterday, and when she reached in and checked for dilation she came out with the knowledge that I had a yeast infection!!!! Why haven't I been feeling itchy or anything? I had no idea! She put me on some cream that I have to shoot up there at night, and it's hard for me to tell how far to put the tube up, as I'm scared of squirting my baby's head!! I may sound like an idiot, but I just don't like the idea of this medicine getting squirted in me at so late in my preg. If the doc was able to stick her finger in and feel the baby...could I accidentally stick the freaking tube in there and "squirt" the baby with the medicine? Oh God...I'm getting more freaked out as I'm typing!

If the infection is mild and internal, it's possible that it doesn't itch. Be thankful that you don't have a full b__wn yeast infection, because it's very uncomfortable. You won't squirt cream on your baby's head because unless you're in labor, the cervix is tightly shut and protected by it's mucus plug. It's best that you get rid of the infection before the baby is born because you could give it oral thrush during the birth. It's not serious if they get it and very easily treated though. Don't worry. If your ob/midwife (or whoever) thinks it's safe they ought to know. I'm really jealous that you're so far along, by the way. I still have 13 weeks to go and I'm fed up already! Good luck with everything and get squirting! :)
