Yeast Infections

I am 25 weeks along and this is the 2nd yeast infection. Usually nothing works for me but the 7 day creams but Dr. said to only take 1 or 3 day suppository and the yeast came back a month later. Some of the 7 day creams say they are safe (Monistat) but I am still afraid to take them. - and having trouble finding the FDA category they are in. Anyone else had anything similar?

Monistat is a cla__s C drug, which means "Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus." Here are some sites you could check: http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/mon1273.htm http://www.aafp.org/afp/20030615/2517.html

Yeast infections during pregnancy are very common due to the changes in hormones. Most Doctors prescribe Diflucan and also something like Tetrazole cream to use at the same time. I would ask you doctor about Diflucan, it is safe during pregnancy and b___stfeeding. It is really important to take something oral to make sure you really kill the infection of yeast. Good Luck!
