Legal REQUIRMENTS For To Be Fathers

Hi, My girlfriend seems to be having a few symptoms and it's been getting me worried and the stress is literally killing me because we're both in college and both have our own dreams. I may be stressing for nothing, but I want to know the real consequences anyway because it might calm me down. Suppose she refuses to get an abortion, what will I be forced to do if she wants to have the baby and keep it? We're not married and neither of us have jobs. I've researched in many other websites about "consequences" and so far I haven't been able to get a straight answer. I'm somewhat aware of being forced to pay child support, but what if my girlfriend doesn't want me to pay child support? Then do I still have to? Perhaps I should contact a lawyer instead for these legal questions? Well then can someone send me in the right direction? I live California by the way. Thank you.

This is a serious matter, you guys should have been more carefull. This is what will happen, if she decides to keep the baby and have it, when it is born, you must be there to sign the papers. However, if you don't...she will put you through court and you'll be required to proceed with a DNA test to verify that you are the father...if it turns out that you are the father, you are put on child support. If she doesn't put you on child support and she lets you walk free, good for you...but you are being a bad father...she doesn't have a job and very bad things can happen, the baby can get taken away from her due to her inability to care for the baby. Either way, whats done is done...the rest is up to you.
