my DS is 14 months now and he is down to 2 bottles a day, nap time and night time. what age did you have ur baby off of the bottle completely? I brush his teeth twice a day, should i try and get him of the bottle? his peditrican said at his 1 year check up to take him off, but he cannot go to sleep at night without one, i have been getting lucky at naptime, he will go sleep without it.

I took Morgan's bottle cold turkey at 12 months. We subst_tuted a sippy cup with water for bedtime. Maybe you could try that??? Carlie is attached to the b___b! I don't know how I'm going to take that when the time comes.... LOL! Good Luck!

i have noticed this trend of taking babies of bottles at age 1 -- i mentioned this to my ped at my dd's one yr appt and she was aghast -- she said not to worry about it until age 2, same with my mom and my MIL -- they dont get this current trend of getting babies off bottles, binkies, etc etc all by age 1. Seems harsh to me. My dd is 12 months and gets 3 bottles a day, AM, PM and one before nap.

I am glad to see your post Melissa g - my dd is 11 months and I hadnt decided what to do about bottles, my mom was urging me not to take them yet but my pedi thinks that by 1 they should be gone.

the only reason I can find on the internet that suggests why its so important to take the bottle away is because of tooth decay. I think if your ds is only getting one bottle a day and you brush his teeth twice a day you have nothing to worry about.

I agree w/ melissa g...what's the hurry? My ds is 13 mos and he gets 2-3 bottles a day nap & bedtime, and sometimes in the am if he is particularly cranky.
