1 Year Old Not Eating Table Food

How do I get my 1 year old dd to eat table food? She just refuses! She will eat an occassional cheerio, but that's really all. She acts like she wants to eat, and gets very excited when we give her something, but she spits it out as soon as she's done chewing, right when it would be time to swallow. Any suggestions?

My ds (13.5 months) was/is the same way. It took him a while to get the hand of finger foods. I think it has something to do with texture aversion because he eats dry foods like cheerios, pieces of toast ect but will gag and act like he's dying when I put a piece of fruit into his mouth. He only very recently started eating the toddler jarred foods. He would gag before that. There is very little finger foods he will eat. He will eat sliced up cheese...that's his only constant because with everything else it depends on his daily mood. Soe days he will eat pieces of fish stick and others he won't touch them. I started offering him finger foods from 7-8 months old before every meal even though he never touched it. My advice would be to keep offering and include your lo in as many family meals as possible. Babies/toddlers like to mimic and I find my ds likes to eat more finger foods that way.
