WalMart has them. They have "theme" books for kids b-days you can look through. I have always bought my kids' cakes from a local family-owned grocery because it's closer and I can get a helium balloon bunch there, too. I did Elmo for my oldest's 3rd b-day ;-) 1/4 sheet cakes usually run around $13.00 here, but you're from NYC, right? I would think it's more there.

All I know is that local store near me... it's about a 3 hour drive from Manhattan LOL... just kidding. I'm really not sure. I know nothing about city life!

Look in your phone book or online for Party stores in your area.. .like either a Party City or Factory Card Outlet... something like that. Wal-Mart has cute cakes... or any chain store with a bakery. The party stores will b__w up the balloons for you, if buy them there, and some florists will b__w them up even if you bought them somwehre else, for a small fee.

Do they have a bi lo in nyc? i had my son a elmo cake just for him to dig in and mess up, BI LO made it, it was just elmos face. he was red for like a week with all that red dye!

No, Party City doesn't have the cake, but you can get the balloons there, and they will b__w them up w/ helium and put ribbons on them, etc... you will have to go to a bakery of some sort for the cake- whether it is a small one, or a chain store like Wal-Mart or Meijer.

You should check Publix they are not that much and they give you a "smash cake" free for the baby. My ds loved his "smash cake" he did not really eat much of it but oh how he "smashed it" LOL that was the best part watching him!!! I know they for sure have Elmo cakes I saw it in the book I got blues clues for ds though.

how much do u folks spend on cakes?

Amy_mommy - February 15

what's smash cakes? baby smash the cake?????????? or we cake baby?? hehehe

rl- - February 15

a "smash cake" is just a small cake that you give to the birthday boy/girl and they can just make a mess of it LOL and the big cake is for the others at the party LOL it is so much fun to watch them tear into their own little cake I was so glad I did that for ds first b-day.

oh it was less than $25.00 at publix I think you pick the cake you want as far as size and then it cost like $6.99 x-tra for the special theme decorations so if you wanted a small cake it would be about $12.99 then add $6.99 for the elmo decorations very reasonable I think then as i said smash cake is free

we don't have publix here......went online and checked
