my ds is 12 months and is on homo milk. My question is we are going away in Jan for 2 weeks to mexico. I have heard that they have milk in cartons there and it's parmalat milk but what if it's only 2%, will that affect him in anyway? eg) diaherra or it's just reccommended to have homo as it has more fat in it.

homo as in homogenous? That just means that it's all the same consistency throughout, all the same stuff. I'm not sure what any other milk is like, but I would ask your doctor!

i am a farmers granddaughter and homo does mean homogenous (which is a form of pasteurized, or heated to destroy Bactria its heated to 147 for 15 seconds) it doesn't have to do with the grade of fat in the milk. Parmalat is also a form of pasteurizing the milk...but is heated to 300 temperature for only 2 to 3 seconds to destroy the bactira. Because with studys while heating the milk does kill bad bactira it also destroys some of the nutritional value in the milk. All of Europe Parmalat's its milk...which if the farmer is a clean farmer that milk is actually healthier for you. My grandfather was always proud of the fact that his milk when tested was so clean that it didn't need to be pasteurized. And yes 2% milk can affect a baby it can cause them to become lactose intolerant. But I believe but am not 1000% sure that the WHOLE MILK in Mexico is actually thicker than here. The WHOLE MILK sold in markets in the USA is not real WHOLE MILK....REAL WHOLE MILK is so thick you can practically eat it...lol oh and taste so much better but is soooooo much more fatting.

confused : so if there isn't more fat in it way do they need 3.25 % over the 2% milk that most drink?
