2 Questions About Waking Earlier And Separation Anxiety

my 6 month dd has had a cold for a week now. for the past week she has also been waking up at 5:45-6am and is wide awake and ready to start her day. since she was 4 months she woke up around 7am. i'm just wondering if this waking early is due to her having a cold or if she's changed her sleeping habits for good? last night she also woke up about an hour after being put down to bed and would scream when i tried to put her in her crib and/or leave the room. i'm just wondering if these new behaviors are from her cold or if this is separation anxiety starting? during the day she seems fine just has a runny nose, otherwise acts pretty much the same. also, she just started crawling about 2 weeks ago and is pulling up this week, too. so many new things for her i suppose.

I am not sure about the early waking...it could be that she has a cold. When she has gotten over her cold and she still wakes up early then you can be sure its a change in her sleeping habits. My ds started getting seperation anxiety at around the same time as your lo. But not during bedtime but rather during the day. He wanted me by his side ALL the time. I couldn't even leave him to pee. Even if I was in the same room as him but not as his side he would start wailing. But now at 7.5 months he seems to be getting better. He can actually play by himself for 10-15 mins. About your lo crying at night...it could be teething. My ds does this sometimes throughout the night. He will let out a little cry of pain. Sometimes he can get himself back to sleep and sometimes I have to go in there and comfort him. Sometimes he doesnt want to be comforted though. Has she got any teeth yet? also I've read that the new physical activity she's learnt can cause nightly wakings.

DDT, my dd does not have any teeth yet. a few nights a week she will wake up and fuss just a little (with her eyes closed as if she is still sleeping?) and i think that is due to teething. like you, i will go in sometimes and soothe her, usually a pacifier will work, other times she can get herself back to sleep. but last night was different, she was just screaming every time i tried to lay her in her crib. i guess i'll see how the next few days go- if it's because of her cold or if its something else. i hate to let her cry if she might be feeling bad due to her cold. i just pray that her sleeping pattern gets back to normal, or at least what it was a couple of weeks ago!!! lol- 6am is too early to start the day when dh is asleep and its still dark outside. but, at least she is sleeping through the night for the most part. seems like these little ones change so quickly- i'll be worried about one thing she does and then the next week it's something totally different. i keep reading a lot about separation anxiety and am so worried about it now!
