hi, my ds is 5 months old & for the last 2 months or so he refuses to drink his bottle unless he had a sleep first, but he will not go to sleep unless i hold him.i have tried a few ways to ge him to sleep by himself but he will just cry & stay a wake therefore not eating when he should be,so his whole routine is out of order. He only will sleep for about 40 mins and cant really stay awake for more than an hour & a half cause he gets cranky.i am finding it hard to get things done.any advise or has anyone else gone through something like this.thanks

My dd is 4 1/2 months old and she too can't stay awake for long periods of time. Her routine is eat, play for about 1 hour, sleep for anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, then she plays some more. She eats about every 3 hours. Sometimes when she is cranky (and I know she needs to sleep) she will fight it so much. It is like she is afraid she will miss something. When she is like that I lay down next to her her and go "shhhhhhh" until it finally conks her out. Sometimes it takes a minute, sometimes it takes 10 minutes. As far as not eating, my dd hasn't had that problem. Hopefully your little guy just needs a good nap between feedings.
