Hi Girls, My ds is 6 months old and he is taking 4 bottles a day His 1st bottle at 730 he usually drinks 6 oz the at 1130 he drinks 5-51/2 oz then gets 3 tbs oatmeal and a stage 1 container of food then at 330 he gets the same 5oz bottle then 3tbs rice stage 1 food then at 730 he drinks 6oz again.......This seems to be working for us but i was wondering what everyone else did, I also mix his cereal with formula so hes getting about 24-27 oz of formula a day.......Do u mix the cereal with formula? Oh yea and hes on stage 1 because we just started fruits and veggies at 6 months. I know some give a bottle than an hour later cereal but i would feel like im feeding him all day.....Once we go to stage 2 do i decrease the formula?? Since he will be eating more food, Should Istill be offering the bottle before food??

good thread - I am getting ready to start my dd on solids - I'll be watching too. :-) Does your ds take a bottle at night or is the 7:30 feeding his last?

OK - let's see if I can offer anything. My son is 6 months, but he started eating solids at 4.5 months (and we still can't fill him up, lol). This is where we are now: 8am - 8oz bottle, 9:30am- stage 2 fruit and 2-3oz of cereal (mixed with formula) w/ water in a sippy. noon - 7oz bottle, 2pm 3oz of water or juice (isn't into juice that much...) in sippy and mesh bag with steamed fruit. 4pm - 7oz bottle - 6:00 - stage 2 veggie and stage 1 fruit - 7:45pm - 8 oz bottle.

my dd is 6.5 mo. old and we have been feeding baby food since 4 months. She gets 6oz formula and 3 tbs cereal at 7:30am, then at 11:30 5 oz formula and 1 container veggies. At 3:30pm 5 oz and 1 container fruit, and &:30 7 oz formula. Just today I added a little prunes to her cereal because she was having a little trouble with harder stools, and I have also started giving her a sippy with water, but she really hasn't taken too much interest in that yet. She is in the 50th % for her weight, so I guess for her this is a good amount, she weighs 15.10lbs. I give her her bottle first in the morning because she is so hungry, but I have been trying to give it to her after her fruits and veggies, but sometimes she wont eat them first and wants the bottle.

any b___stfeeding moms with 6mo olds and solids??

mcatherine - you have an EATER! :-) What % is he in? DeeJay - sounds like your dd is about the same as mine...my dd is a little younger, but has faithfully been in the 50th percentile. Thanks for sharing all! Constipation is one of the reasons I am hesitant to start "foods" - being a bf baby she has never had to "work" too hard to go!

Do you HAVE to feed cereal? or can that be skipped? Why do I feel like it is just "filler"?

tryingx3 - March 14

What did you introduce first? Veggies? Fruit? Also, dd doesn't seem too thrilled with oatmeal, so I bought oatmeal with bananas, not too thrilled about that either...but going to keep trying. Suggestions?

BTW - I mixed the oatmeal with b___stmilk.
