7 Month Old Snacking All Night HELP

My son is an all night snacker....Last night he woke up 5 times (every 2 hours) I think it is initially gas that wakes him, but the only way to get him back to sleep is nursing. I have tried slipping him a pacifier and even a bottle with warm water..but he's too smart and doesn't fall for it. He has just developed a small spot of decay on his front tooth which I believe is a result of this. Last night I kept a damp washcloth by the bed to wipe his teeth clean after each nursing session. I think it's time to take drastic measures...i'd rather not stop the co-sleeping but it looks like we may have to. When he has slept separately he still wakes up fussing and again the only way to get him to sleep is nursing so he ends up back in bed with me...I may stop br___tfeeding altogether..I don't know..I am not a fan of the 'let them cry it out' theory...... I want him to have more of a schedule now to make sure he gets enough to eat during the day so he's not making up for calories at night. What to do??? Has anyone had a similar experience?

It sounds like he might not be able to put himself back to sleep as no baby should be waking up every 2 hours at night. When you put him down for bed time is he asleep or just tired? You may want to work on putting him down tired and then later after he has fallen asleep you go to bed. You may need to stop co-sleeping though because it could be you or your signant other that's waking him up. Hope this helps, I'm sure somebody else can give you some more advice.

Is he on solids? If so, increase the amount of solids, or simply the number of times he gets solids. My 10 month old is on 3 meals of tablefood plus 2 snacks a day, and sleeps 10 to 12 hours per night. She gets breakfast 30 minutes after waking up, a handful of Cheerios for a mid-morning snack just before her morning nap, then lunch at noon, another handful of Cheerios as an afternoon snack around 3 or 4 p.m. and then dinner around 6. She has reduced nursing to once or twice a day. HTH

I want to talk about the teeth or tooth in question.....my nephew had decay problems with his teeth due to no floride in the water.....brother had well water and when they gave him water it was from the well.......with yours being so young and this occuring you might want to ck with dentist or if you do use well water buy the water that is floride enriched and give that to him...worth a try....sorry I cannot help with the nursing as.... well...... I don't nurse but I know that for through the night the aquarium in lo crib is a life saver.....I can turn it on when he is fussy and 9 times out of 10 he will go back to sleep to the lights and sounds......good luck
