15 Week Ds Eating Same Amount For 3 Weeks

Our ds has been eating the same amount of formula every day for about 3 weeks now, or maybe a little longer. He is eating 4 to 4 1/2 ounces every 3 hours and has been at this level for a while. Is it normal for him to plateau like this for a while?

Kelly, I was wondering the same thing! Sienna will be 14 weeks old and has been doing the same. She has about 4 oz every 3 hours now.

If your son has sucking the bottles dry each time for at least 2 weeks, that's a sign to increase the amount. With my 16.5-week-old son, when he's finishing every bottle for a certain period of time (2 weeks or so), that's when I increase... by a half ounce. Like right now, he's a 5.5 ounces each time (he eats 5 times a day), but he does not finish at least 2 of the bottles each day. So I'm going to wait to increase him to 6 ounces. And when I'm/he's ready to increase, I alternate bottles for 2 full days: one bottle at the current amount, then the next bottle will be that half ounce more, the next goes back to the current amount, etc. I think it gives his tummy time to expand and take in that new, larger amount.

No he doesn't finish every bottle all day. Sometimes he'll finish 2 some days he'll finish all but 1. He did increase really fast about a month ago, so maybe he's just going to hang out for a while now I guess :)
