ok just getting all my questions in...tee hee. my little girl is 3 months and has never pooped on her own, you have to hold her legs up give her a supository or rectal temp. she has alot of tummy issues and has been changed from formula to formula....enfamil soy is working great, br___tfeeding was not an option due to me having many complications after she was born. so she is eatting some fruit now to get em going though her gi doc....but any of you mom's have some great tricks to get her to start to do it herself. i mean i have the happiest little girl ever she never cry's even when i know she is trying to go......just want to make it easier for her if i can. and yes i did karo too

You know, my dd was having the same problems. I told the ped, but he didn't seem concerned. The funny thing is, after she was diagnosed with reflux, and she started her meds, she started going much easier and every 1 - 2 days now (she was going like every 3 -4 days and it was an explosion!!). I don't know if the med had anything to do with it, or if it was a coincidence or what, but it was weird how it started to help. I was thinking maybe it finally made her feel better and she was able to relax and concentration - lol. My doc did suggest 1 ounce of water with one tsp of sugar to help soften her stool and that seemed to help at the time before her meds too. Sorry I probably wasn't much help, huh?

no no kel thanks see they dont really feel that she needs the meds. the GI doc was like if it doenst bother her then why....but it's all related. water and suger?? hmm i'll try that. she even eats prunes and still needs help, but man she goes sometime all over me LOL

I don't know if it will help but when my little one was having issues with this they told me to try an ounce of undiluted apple or pear juice. It never worked for us but thought it might be an option for you.

So sorry....I didn't mean to sound like she needs meds.... :-) opps. I meant that my poor dd was having the same problems too (before she got on her reflux meds.) She was straining and straining and thats when the doc said the water and sugar thing (the first time she exploded shortly after). I was just saying OT that she got regular after the reflux meds (which was months later) which I thought was weird...I think I was just thinking out loud or at least typing.... :-)

I had a friend whose infant daughter was chronically constipated and she would give her a few ounces (4 oz I think, it was years ago) of prune juice each day in a bottle. She said it helped a lot but that if she ever missed a day that her daughter would have trouble going the next day, so I remember she tried to be religious about it.
