Well, I've ordered a baby food cookbook but it won't be here until next week and I want to start Abby on rice cereal this week. Does anybody know how to make their own rice cereal?

I just went to wholesomebabyfood's website and got a recipe for making your own rice cereal, I am going to try to make some today. I am also going to try barley and oatmeal. This website is really good and has ways to store, freeze and make baby food. I am going to buy organic grains today at the health food store and go from there. Hope this helps.

I make all of my own baby food, but opted not to make the cereal myself. The store bought cereal has added vitamins and minerals (iron etc) that homemade cereal wouldn't have. Just a thought.....

thanks Erynn :o) ssmith, can't you add formula to add viramina, minerals and irons? I read somewhere that you could.

I made a lot of my own baby food, but didn't try to make my own cereal. Very ambitious of you, Erica! Just a warning in case this happens to you- my weird kid drank formula but would not TOUCH cereal made with formula. It's like he didn't mind the taste in a liquid form, but God forbid you make it a little chunkier and he was horrified! I had to give him cereal made with water or mashed fruit.

lol, thanks Nerdy girl. If she hates it with formula I could always try it with b___stmilk, but that stuff's like liquid gold around here so I'd rather use formula, lol.

Yes, you could mix it with formula. However, my dd is b___stfed and doesn't drink formula.
