My husband and I took our family out for brunch on Sunday. We have a 9 year old, an 8 year old, a 5 year old and the baby is 10 months. Well, as we are walking in the door an older couple was coming out and the wife says very audibly "Wow what a large family." Ok so I let that slide although it itrritated me that they couldn't wait to make their comment until they were out of earshot. Then the waitress seats us and this table of two couples is loterally staring at us for like 10 minutes. Now I'm gettign p___sy. My children are VERY well behaved in a restaraunt so I know thats not why we are being stared at. Then it happened. One of the ladies actually had the nerve to walk up to our table and say to me "Wow you have such a big family, isn't it tough?" My husband answered really quick because he knew I was ready to rip her a new one!!! He said very politely "Our family isn't large, 4 children is just right for us and no it isn't tough because we planned them and our lives around them, thank you for asking." It really annoys me because it seems like lately everyone stares at us like we are a two headed monster just because we have more than 1 or 2 children. How rude can people be?! Our family is just the right size for us and we are very happy, why can't people keep their opinions to themselves?????

I can relate. I cant tell you how many people asked "was it planned?" when we announced our third pregnancy ... ah yeah, I think we know how it all works now thanks!!!

I got that when I was pregnant with my 3rd also. It's like... you have one, that's good, you have two... a sibling for your first one, that's good... you have 3 and suddenly people think you've never heard of birth control LOL.

Don't you just love it when you go into a store and someone will say to you "Are they all yours". Just once I want to reply, "nope, I picked them up in the parking lot." Or they say "you have your hands full"

lol. my employer has 9 children!!! now, thats a lot! Someone once called her and said she heard she has a home day care, and if theres room for her baby. So my employer, said well all the children at the day care live here, and no, I am not taking any more. haha.

I can understand why you get so annoyed, people can be very ignorant. For me, I am just amazed at how well some people can handle so many kids. I think it's great. I would love to have a big family but I know I'm not cut out for it. You should see the looks my neighbor gets. She has five kids under the age of 6, the youngest two being twins. I can't imagine that life but for them it works. Well, usually it works but right now her husband is deployed so life is a lot harder.

SonyaM... I feel the same way. I always wanted 5 or 6 kids, but three has proven to be my limit in every way. I'm just not organized enough to be able to manage any more. I wish...

That is so weird. Geez, seems like when I was growing up three were the norm. And four certainly wasn't "a lot" or "excessive". I would have 5 if I could afford to!
