My dd had bronchiolitis at 4 1/2 months old. We were given an inhaler with a special chamber for infants. We used it for 4 days and as needed per the dr. So far we haven't had to use it except for those 4 days. My dr. is keeping a close eye on her asthma because I have it and so does daddy plus all of my siblings have it as well. She has not been diagnosed with it though. He said if it turns out that she does have it then she will likely grow out of it in early childhood. My brother, who is now 23, was diagnosed at 6 months old. He had bronchitis a few times a year growing up but he was still able to play sports (star athlete in track) and lives a very active life. I would try not to worry to soon until the dr's have more answers for you. Best of luck!

I wouldn't fret yet like YC said. My youngest daughter had RSV when she was 2 months old. She ended up in ICU and had to have her lungs catheterized. They told me that she would end up having asthma, but she didn't. Now my 3-year-old was diagnosed with asthma when he was only a few months old...his first couple of years were rough, but as he has gotten older he has improved greatly. We only had one wheezing incident this past winter. I also have another child with asthma, but he was only dx this past year and he is 13. The main thing if your child is at risk for asthma is make sure they are not exposed to second hand smoke, try to keep them in when pollen counts are high, keep down the dust, etc..

oh, those things I suggested at the end may not keep them from developing asthma, but it can help keep them from having a major attack if they do develop asthma. But, I wouldn't stress about it because your lo may not develop it...dr.'s aren't always right as my daughter proved.
