Hi Austinsmom? how is your ds doing? Has his eczema cleared up? Aaliyah had her 6 month appt. and she still had the 2 spots on her face. It comes and goes but it isn't as bad as before. The dr. said to give her the over the counter cortizone with no more than 1% so i use that and the gentle naturals or the aquaphor . I used it a few times and the spots have smoothed out and aren't dry anymore but she still has 2 light spots. The dr. said since eczema is a skin condition it doesn't go away it just clears up from time to time. He said eventually she will grow out of it.

hi nic nac!! Sorry it took a little time for me to respond I usually hang out here when I am at work with nothing to do but want to make people think I am doing something lol....Thanks for asking Austin is doing great!!!!!! I rarely have to use the elidel anymore since I bought the aveno lotion......it is the best ever girl!!! Hey maybe I did not tell you but I was short on money and hubby went to wally world to get some things and I told him to get the aquafor and he was looking and noticed the aveno for eczema and asked if he should get it since it was so much less expensive and give it a try so I said sure it could'nt hurt......wow the differance it has made to my lo!!! I lasts for 24 hours so I slather it on in the morning when I am putting on his clothes and actually now that I think about it I have not had to use the elidel now for 1and 1/2 weeks!!! Maybe you should try this as well.....even his toes and ankles which were the absolute worst are soft and healed...mmmm his skin all over feels just like his b___t ha. The aveno is in a tube like the aquafor but it is very thick cream with oatmeal in it if you try it let me know how it works....I hope it works for your lo like it has mine... good luck and keep me informed I am very excited about this product!! By the way this is the 3rd week I believe that I have been using it...

I am excited to hear that they may grow out of this !!! I will be taking my lo to his 6 month appt on thursday his 6 month birthday and planned on asking that question........let me say that he does have a flair up when he gets really hot but we try not to let that happen and when it does (or has as in the past couple of weeks) it seems to fade out as he cools down (just gets red splotches) I must say I accredit it to the aveno the fact that it has not gotten to where it once was.......but I would be thrilled if he did not have to deal with this all his life....I think of him when he gets older and goes shirtless to impress the girls and I would hate for him to be ashamed of his chest cause it is splotchy from eczema.....I know you understand we just want them to have a perfect life and all the happiness........

(sorry, crashing the thread again;-) Aveeno? I will have to get that for dd and dh, especially if it is less expensive! Doesn't Aveeno also have a line of baby bath products? DD has less breakouts now that she is a teen, but she still has some...I have also read that most childhood eczema is outgrown so she may grow out of it by the time she's an adult.

Crash anytime rabbits!!! Yes aveeno has bath products and the one with oatmeal (I am not at home and cannot remember well) baby wash is what I bath lo in.......but yes try it have yours put it on once a day cause it does last for 24 hours and let me know!!!! I believe it comes in 5 oz tube for 3-4 dollars...I have not had to go buy it myself since hubby got it cause I am still using the same tube he purchased....kinda tan tube and royal blue top......I hope they are right about our los growing out of this....I hope really hope that this works for your teen dd I am sure she is self concious about it like I am afraid my lo would be....kids nowadays pick on you for the most ignorant things so you don't want to be differant cause your afraid it will add fuel to the fire........let me know if it works for you!!!! Oh and I hope it helps your dh out too......was he born with the eczema as well but did not grow out of it?

Can I crash, too? :0) Both my dh and baby girl have all kind of skin issues, and I didn't know Aveeno made anything for it? Does it smell good? I'm glad we have them, but I get bored with all the perfumeless hypoallergenic stuff - I just want my baby to smell like a baby!

austinsmom - June 27

Sorry Ginny but the aveeno does not have a scent :-( but it does seem to work!!!! I understand though..... that baby smell is like nothing else.....

Marlene - June 27

Sorry to crash but I have aveeno baby and it does not have a scent. It could just be the one I have. Ds doesn't really need it but I like it and to make him smell like a baby after I use it I put alittle baby powder on him. But like I said they may have a sent but the one I have does not.

austinsmom, dh actually just started having problems about 3 years ago, but only finally got a diagnosis last year. He never had it as a child. The doctor he was going to at first kept giving him antifungal creams and saying it was fungus...but it kept getting worse. It got so bad that he had an enormous hole in his ankle! He finally went to a different doctor who told him it was eczema, not fungus, gave him a RX cream and it cleared right up.

crash away ladies!!! Austinsmom I am glad to hear that Austin is doing well. My dr. did tell me to get the aveeno but I haven't tried it yet. Their products work great i use them on myself.

Rabbits I am glad your dh found the right doctor!!!! I find it hard to believe sometimes the misdiagnosis 's that happen everyday......just curious did your dh get prescribed elidel? My husband uses a prescription for his but it is not a cream but clear like water and about the same consistancy....boy does that stuff burn like h*ll but it clears him right up I cannot remember the name hmmmmm he cannot use it too often or his body..... or skin I should say ....gets immune to it and it works less well ...darn where is my brain today?

Rabbits07 - June 27

No, dh uses something called chlobesteral (sp?). It works really good, but states not to come into contact with it if pregnant or nursing so I maintain my distance when he has to use it. Dh has trouble with his mainly on his legs and feet. The doctor (the good one) told him to wrap them in saran wrap (no kidding) when broke out to keep his clothes and shoes from rubbing it and making it worse.
