Baby And Tv

My son is 8 months old. His play area is right in front of the tv. I plop him down and he plays w/ his toys, his gym and tries to learn to crawl. (he's so so so close to crawling!! ). I turn the tv on because that entertains him too. (When he grows older I'm planning on limitiing tv time.. give him tons of things to do! sports etc) He likes the lights and sound and watches it intently at times.. I remember as a child people telling me to watch out for my eyes. To not watch the tv that close up.. etc etc. Why did they say that? How can it be bad on the eyes? Computers have screens that protect the eyes.. would and lcd screen tv have problems? He's watching from about 4-5 feet away. Could it be bad for him?

If they're too close the glare could maybe give him a headache. I know i get sore heads sometimes if im too close and watching something thats bright intently, other than that im afraid im not really much help.

i agree with vonzo. new studies showed that watxhing tv will not effect there eye sight. i do the same thing as you, my only concern is ds becoming addicted. although he is only allowed to watch one baby dvd....he watchs that a few times a day from on his belly whist playing with toys like you said....the addiction is the only thing i would have concerns about.
