My son is now 6 months old and the has been on cereal for over a month now. We went for his 6 month appointment the other day and the Pedi told me to have fun and start introducing him to veggies and fruits. I went out today and bought all the Stage 1 fruits & veggies by BEECHNUT, this is new in Canada however I have heard great things about this brand. I was going to buy Heinz but figured I would try the BEECHNUT out as it seemed alot more clear with the stages and it was a little bit cheaper as well....any feedback would be appreciated.

I do use jars of food but mainly desert.. Why not boil some pumpkin, carrot, potato, boil some pear, apple etc.... And put them thru the blender so they are pureed... Its healthier, and doesn't take much time at all...............I did give my daughter tinned pureed pear as she used to love it but i also gave her fresh stuff.... If i did use tin stuff i always bought heinz.........I am not in canada so i dont know anything about beechnut.........

Beechnut is great...as is Gerber and all the rest. These companies have strict regulations so you really can't go wrong choicewise...just as long as your baby likes it :) By the way, Beechnut has a website you can check out. www.beechnut.com

I've used Beechnut, Heinz and Gerber in the past and my babies always seemed to like them all and never really had a preference for one over the other so I would say they are basically all the same taste wise and as hannahsmom said they have guidelines they have to follow.

I buy the organic baby food, I was going to make my own then I read about how strict the guidelines are for baby food makers and I know my house is clean but not as sterile as the big companies so I think they are all pretty much the same. I am a clean freak and was impressed with the health code guide lines.

I am mainly making my own now, but still buy some and I prefer beechnut, I also use gerber and prefer the gerber banannas, I have also used Earth's choice which is organic, but I didn't see anything so great about it to make me keep using more money for it.

Was my reply unable to be seen because i said boiling up a bit of pumpkin or pear takes a few mins while opening a tin takes 2 seconds.... Good luck
