Baby Having Nightmares

Quite a bit lately my 11 wk old son has been waking up really abruptly crying like he's terrified. He'll be sleeping peacefully, then start to wimper and frown and then start freaking out and crying. I comfort him and he stops. I've seen him laughing and smiling in his sleep since the beginning but this nightmare thing is new and becoming quite common. I hate it! It makes me so sad for him because he seems so frightened... Anyone else have a similar experience?

Ben cries out in his sleep sometimes but falls right back asleep. I wonder what they're dreaming about?

Oh yes! This happened about three times during the first few months. He would be sleeping and while asleep, eyes closed, he is crying a lot like something is really bothering him. I hug him and kiss him and bounce around and soon its all quiet again continuing to sleep. I thought the same thing Christy. What was he dreaming?

When my daughter does that, it's usually gas. She'll cry in her sleep, then fart, then go back to sleep.

My son has bad dreams every now and then. I always wonder what he is dreaming about because its not like he has really experienced anything scary. My husband says he is dreaming about a big bottle and its empty!

Jesse does that too,but in the last 2 weeks he was sobbing and whimpering, the saddest sound EVER...and it would last about 5 minutes,I asked the doc yesterday about that and she said it was b/c of the teething,he has done this twice now.So sad....
