Baby Having Nightmares Night Terrors

DD is now 10 months old, and for many months now she seems to be having nightmares or night terrors. Thankfully it's just once or twice a month, but she screams like I've never heard her scream before and even though you hold her she doesn't look at you and is disoriented for at least 5-10 minutes before she can calm down. I don't think it's food related as I remember her having a few of these before we started solids. Anyone else having this? Is there anything I can do to help? Will she out grow this?

My son had night terrors also. I told his dr. about it because I didn't know what was going on and he then told me it was night terrors and they usually just grow out of it. Did not give me any more info than that. But he would do the exact same thing except more often. It is def. scary.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't mentioned it to her doctor because it happens so infrequently but it's been a few more in the last few months, and it's just so frustrating that I can't seem to get through to her for those first few minutes when before she fully wakes up. I'll have to count my good fortune that it's at least not as frequent as your son's. How old is he now?

He is 5 years old now. The dr. was right though, it didn't last for a long time, I think maybe just about 6 months. It is def. frustrating. Atleast you know what it is now and it may help you get through it easier.
