she was saying it everyday and very clearly and i know that she knew what it meant too because you'd say "wheres mama?" and she would look at me. now she hasnt said it at all in over a week and a half and i cant get her to say it at all...is it normal for a baby to forget a word or refuse to say it or something? im starting to get a little worried..

I would say yea its normal, that shes working on something else now and the novelty of the new word wore off. My dd was saying a lot pretty early on and now is back down to only a few words and hardly ever says mama anymore, lots of dada tho.

yeah,it's normal i think. you could hear dd trying to say mama or mom when she was like only 2 or 3 months old, it was crazy. i didn't think they could do it that early. "mama" was only clear to me once when she was about 4 months, i don't hear her trying to say that as often now.

ok, good...i was kind of worried but sounds like it might be normal, she's still young, just turned 6 months so i dont expect her to be talking up a storm or anything just wanted to see if it was normal to stop saying it, shes been very into singing and babbling though this week

HA! My son is 15months and only says 'mum' when he's upset! I'm always there I guess so why use it!!

marige, alexa will only say mom mom mom when she is upset, like iemc said i am always there, she wont say it to me, the second i pick her up when she says it she stops and when i try to get her to say it, she never will so i think she will be fine...

Babies don't really talk and a__sociate a word with the meaning at your babies age. Usually it is just sounds mama, dada....give it time. She is just learning to make the noises.
