Babysitting In Your Home To The SAHMs

Have any of you ever thought of running a small daycare in your homes? I am currently thinking about it. I could have it in my basement. That is where dd playroom is anyway. I don't know. I just thought it would be neat to stay home w/ kids, yet they still have interaction with other kids and you can make some decent money. Mostly b/c you don't have to pay for daycare. What do you all think? Have any of you ever done it?

I have... when I only had one child. I watched one other boy. I found I didn't have the patience to do it long term, but it may work for you!

I had actually looked into doing something like that when I only had 5 kids. My very first potential client was all for it. We met at my house and she looked around and seemed happy...until my kids got home from school. Then she was like, "all these are yours?" I had told her that I had 5 kids, but apparently either she didn't hear me, it didn't register or she thought that I meant 5 other kids to babysit. She seemed to totally freak about it and I never heard from her again. I didn't see what the difference was between 5 of my own kids or 5 of someone else's....lol. Her little boy would have only been there for about an hour after my kids got home from school anyways...oh well.

I am hopefully going to start watching another baby girl soon. My son is 7 months old and the other baby is only 2 months. I am sure that it is going to be hard work but we so need the money right now! good luck!

I considered it years ago, in fact I have a great book that tells you how to do it. I decided in long run I would be working more this way than if I just kept woking my regular job. I wouldn't be against keeping maybe 1 other child in similar age to my kids but not 4 like I was considering before.

yup and that is exactally what i will be doing when my mat leave is done. I did work in a daycar before i went on mat leave for 9 years and i don't think that i should put my son in to daycare for someone else to take care of him so i can take care of someone else's kids? so i will stay at home for another year and take in 2 or 3 until he is twoand then hopefull go back to work ( if they will have a position for me by then?) and then he can come to the same daycare and i can see him throught out the day.

I would like to do this. Take in a few kids and then I wouldn't have to go back to work. I may still try it. I don't have to go back to work until November or December.
