So we made it back from our first vacation with dd. For the most part she was really good on the plane, just a little fussing (a little to me not everyone around us) and then she slept almost the whole flight both ways. She didnt sleep very good once we arrived at my in-laws. She knew she was not at home, but I would say all in all it went really well. She is soooooo happy to be home again. I would do a few things different next time, but for out first go at it, it wasnt too bad.

That's great that your trip went well. I remember the first plane trip I took with Rylee. I was b/f and it was so embarra__sing.. but luckily I had a window seat and chad was able to "block" me from everyone else. lol. Babies can definitely sense when they're not at home.. I noticed that with both of my kids when we went to the in-laws..although now at 3 1/2..rylee loves going because she knows grandma will convince me to let her stay up late! :)

Thanks Melissa. Next year will be totally differnt b/c she will be almost 1 1/2. Grandma and Grandpa loved it though. And how they love to spoil them :-)

I'm glad your trip went well! We just came back a couple of weeks ago from a trip with ds (11 months old). I know what you mean - they really know they are not at home and in their own bed.

Glad to hear that all went and you made it home safely!!

I leave for florida in 5 days w/ my son, and he's 13 months on the 15th. We're flying and the flight is 2 hours and 40 minutes, i'm soooo scared! He won't even sit on my lap for more the 5 minutes, I hope it goes well! Any more advice Drea??

thanks ladies. Shelly, we were in Florida also and came home to NY where it was 11 degrees (YUCK!!!). It was freezing, I hope dd doesnt get sick now. I had about 10 blankets on her. As far as advice Shelly, I found that feeding her on the take off and landing helped a lot. Right after I fed her she fell asleep and it helps with their ears. Also, I bought 2 new toys (at the suggestion of someone on here) and that also helped b/c if she was awake she played with her new toys. Otherwise, you should be fine. Our flight was about the same distance so its not too bad. I'm sure he'll be busy looking around and dont worry about the other people on the plane if he crys, they'll get over it. Good Luck and have a safe trip.

Glad to hear all went well! drea, you mentioned you would do a few things different - such as? I'll be flying to Hawaii when dd is 13 months old and could use all the helpful suggestions I can get. Any experienced travelers care to share? Thanks!

Bump - sorry, but it was about to fall off the page. Anyone? Anyone at all? ;-)

Ellie, the main thing I wish I did was bring the Infant Carrier, which probably wont be an issue next time b/c she is already too big for it. Also, I will make sure that she has a crib to sleep in b/c my in-laws only had a pack and play and dd HATED it. I ended up having to put her on the bed surrounded by pillows (I know its bad, but I had no choice). So needless to say, Dh and I pretty much had no sleep b/c we were watching her all night. Otherwise thats really the two main things I wish I did. Hope this helps. Have a great trip. (wish I was going to Hawaii :-)

Thank you so much drea! I appreciate your input and good suggestions (sounds like you might need another vacation to recuperate from the lack of sleep on this one? I know what that's like!). I'm already dreading the 7 hour flight and I worry about entertaining her on the plane, the whole change of schedule thing, etc., but I can't be without her for 10 days so she's coming! Don't feel bad - I've never been to Hawaii either!
