Bald Spot

My daughter is 3 months old today, and I finally was able to get her to start napping in her crib (instead of the swing) a few weeks ago. Ever since then, she is getting a big bald spot on the back of her head. She has so much hair, and it's so cute, but now she's getting this spot and it's so sad. Underneath it her hair is almost 2 inches long, so it's very noticable. Poor little thing. I'm assuming it's just from her laying on her head on the time... She tosses and turns quite a bit before falling asleep, so maybe that's what's doing it? Is there anything I can do to help it? I know it sounds silly, but her poor hair!!

Don't worry about it most babies lose some hair and then new hair will grow in right after. My dd is 12 weeks and she has less her on the left side of her head because she turns her head that way to sleep, but she already has new hair coming in. My ds went almost bald, I called him bald little man, he had lots of hair when he was born. I do know how you feel though my dd has lots of hair too and it does look kind of funny.

The bald spot is super common, so while you may feel bad for your child, most babies get bald spots that quickly go away. I know babies that have them in a ring around their head. There isn't really anything you can do about it. My daughter started getting her spot on the back at about 3 months or so, is now 6 months with the spot barely visible. She had a lot of hair when she was born, but most of it came out and is growing in now. I see babies every day with bald spots, so just know that you wee-one is not alone and that hair will be there soon to replace it. Good luck.

LOL Tracy - mine has the ring around her head! She has long hair in the bottom at the back, and long hair on top, but in between and on the sides is.. well, not quite as long! Haha. It's always been like that, though - I'm sure it'll grow in sooner or later.
