Bathtime Ear Question

Hi guys! My 3 month old LOVES her bathtime. She is hysterical in the tub. I have a little slanted mesh chair thing that she sits in but she recently discovered she can scoot her little bottom down so that she is completley submersed in the warm water with only her face sticking out. The concern is that when she does this her ears are under the water. Now my mother tells me babies that little should not have their ears in the water, I am not so sure and I feel dumb calling the doctor for a question like that. Do you guys know if its harmful for them to have their ears under water?

Yeah, I would agree w/ you mom. Water trapped in their ears can cause ear infections. That's great that she loves her bathtime though.

Dont ever feel dumb asking your ped questions. Without patients they wouldnt have a job!!! LOL!!! I asked my ped and he said that trapped water in the ear can cause infections such as swimmer's ear. He said if you get a little water in the ear it's no big deal but you should try to avoid it at this age.
