Are you thinking of only pumping or using formula? 8 weeks is fine if you are concerned about continuing to b___stfeed, if you are switching 100% to bottle, than sooner is better than later because your baby might prefer the b___st and refuse the bottle. If you want to pump and not feed the baby formula, you are going to have to pump several times a day and at night. As often as your baby is eating now is how many times you should be pumping. It is a lot of work but worth it if you want the baby to have b___stmilk. Is there a reason you want to switch? In my experience b___stfeeding was much easier than bottle feeding -- and pumping was not for me. I would get yourself a pump and give it a try, store up some pumped milk and try the bottle. Once you see how it is going you will be better informed as what is going to work for you.
