hi all: you know how we're supposed to brush our babies' teeth before bed? well, my son has his bottle right before bed and then sometimes gets drowsy or falls asleep as he's finishing his bottle... should i wake him to brush his teeth? i've been brushing them right before his bottle but it occured to me that well, isn't the purpose defeated then? any suggestions or do you think it's okay to just do as i have been? thanks!

Maybe instead of doing it before bed since he has his bottle, do it when he wakes up or after he eats breakfast. I brush my sons teeth before bed, after breakfast, and sometimes in the afternoon...SOMETIMES. I know the drs. say your not suppose to give a baby a bottle before bed but if thats what your son is used to, then it'd be sad to take it away. I guess I would give him a bottle before bed, before he was in his crib/bed, PJs, etc. and keep him awake then brush his teeth or just do it when he woke up. Just make sure hes gettin flouride in the water when he gets water. Good luck and happy brushing!

When my other son first got teeth, we would incorporate brushing them with the night time routine, but it got to a point where we would brush them but he would have 1 more bottle before bed like you... Instead of waking him to brush them again, we just took a wash cloth and wiped them... It didn't wake him up and his teeth would be clean...
