Bumbo Seat Is It Good

Hi Everyone! My dd is 6.5 months old and loves to be sitting to play, but she can't sit for long without falling over, so I thought that the Bumbo seat might be good for her. What does everyone think of the Bumbo? Would it be worth buying?

It's one of those "maybe" things. Most people I know LOVE them. I got one for Mason and he hated it so it just depends on the baby, Too bd most things don't let you test them out first. ;)

The seat is good but it is so expensive and the baby outgrows it so quickly - I would only get it if you can get it second hand so that you can get it cheaper because it doesnt seem worth the money, she will outgrow it so quick!

Definitely. My dd is 6.5 months too and she loves that thing. It's great to take with you when you go visiting. We bring it whenever we visit family or friends so she can play. She is 15 lbs.

Anyone know how long your LO can use the bumbo seat? When do they outgrow it?

one thing I would suggest is that if you get it, still let her sit by herself without it to help her develop her spine and her muscles. I use the bobby and sit her in that too so if she falls over on her side or falls backwards she is protected.

It is recommended up to 22lbs but they also say it is really more of a size limit than weight. So if you baby is 22lbs but can still fit in it, it is safe to use.

oh ok..thanks nic nac...Guess it is too late to get my son one, he is around 22lbs. He can only sit up by himself for about one minute, so I usually just sit behind him, but I didnt think about the boppy pillow..I will have to try that.

I definately think size mroe than weight. That was our problem. Mason is a very long baby and he was jjst too tall in it and sat hunched over.

Hi...we loved the bumbo seat. At first I worried that it might delay independent sitting--but it claims to be both pediatrician AND physical therapist approved..My ds is just over 7 months and is doing more sitting unsupported , so I took the bimbo to a consignment shop...so I'll at least get a little back of the cost.

Shari you took the "bimbo seat" LOL.

...uh...I took the 'Bumbo' seat to consignment...the 'bimbo' seat I kept for myself. (..if the seat fits.....) good catch nic nac

Bimbo seat. Ha! Ha! Hey Aussie Beck, are you from Australia?

I loved mine for DD and used it as a high chair when introducing solids. I could sit her on the table in front of me and feed her which was great and left me with both hands. It definately did not delay developement in any way as DD is 6.5 months old sitting una__sisted and crawling all over. The only time I use it now is when we go out to resturants. It allows me to put her on the seat next to me so she can watch us and play with her toys.

To angelbebe: Yes! I'm from Australia! Are you? I live in NSW. I'd love to find someone else on this forum who's an Aussie!

Hi Ladies! Thank you so much for your responses and feedback. I'm going to buy a Bumbo, and if for some reason dd doesn't like it, I can always sell it or keep it for the next baby. Sounds like it comes in really handy, especially when going to other people's houses. Thanks again! :D

Aussie Beck-I'm not, but I'm married to a Kiwi and we are moving down there this fall (well, your spring). We are stopping in New Zealand first, but then going over to Aussie...just not sure exactly where yet! I'm very excited.
