This question is for anyone with gassy babies...my 3 week old daughter tends to gulp air and / or spit up if she is lying flat on her back...this makes diaper changing a strssful frenzy for me, who is trying to rush like a mad fool before she fills with air or throws up her milk. Any suggestions? I try sitting her up half way through and trying to burp her but I don't always catch it in time...thanks!

I a__sume you are changing her immediately after she feeds? If that is the case I would just go ahead and change her before she eats. Even if she still spits up it won't be as much as it would be with a tummy full of milk.

I waited 30-40 minutes before lying my dd on her back after she ate when she was that age. I agree change her before you feed her and don't lie her down flat to sleep for at least 30 minutes after she eats.

First, I must make my cusomary comment and ask if she is having any pain. She may have some reflux going on.....as to answer your question...this is a common issue for reflux babies. In this case it's better to change the diaper before the feed. Hold her upright for 30 minutes after every feed. And elevate her bed. :)

I really appreciate all the support! Bonnie--no, she is not in any pain when she spits up...
