CIO Questions

I would like to start CIO and need some advice. I haven’t tried it yet, but have always wanted my baby to be able to fall asleep on her own. Even before I was pregnant, I told myself that I would have it so that I could put my baby to sleep in her crib and she would fall asleep on her own. Here is my current situation: My dd is about 9 weeks old now and starting to sleep through the night here and there. She currently sleeps in our room in her pack in play / bassinet. Once she starts sleeping through the night regularly I would like to switch her to her crib in her room and use CIO (I’m hoping to have this all worked out by the time I return to work in 5 weeks). Anyway, our current nighttime routine is a bottle at 8:30 pm – ish and then to bed after wards, she usually falls asleep anywhere between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. I “used” to rock her to sleep and then put her in her pack n play, but I have stopped that. I now lay her in our bed until she falls asleep and then place her in her pack n play. I know this probably isn’t the best way, but I thought it would be a good way for her to learn to fall asleep on her own without me rocking her, but she still has me near so it isn’t a huge change for her all at once. I was hoping this would kind of transition her to be able to fall asleep on her own in her own room eventually. Now, I would like to CIO with her, but I’m not sure exactly how to do it and would like some advice from those of you that have tried it and it worked for you. When did you start it? Is my baby too young? Do you also use this method during the day for naptime?? I’m not sure exactly what the steps are for starting this method so I appreciate any feedback or comments you can provide. Also, my baby is one that LOVES her pacifier at night, if it falls out of her mouth and she isn’t in a deep sleep yet…..she wakes right up. Thanks
