My son had his circ_mcision almost 5 weeks ago. At first he seemed to heal pretty quickly and at his1 week post surgury check up he was almost completely healed except for one area that was still a little red and puffy. About 2 weeks ago I took him back in because it is still red and very puffy in that same area. She told me that it was ok and he would grow into it!! To me that sounds crazy and it looks far from ok, but then I havent been through this befor. Somebody please tell me -is this normal?

I believe it is. I was a little concerned about a red and puffy area that was taking a long time to heal and they kept telling me it was ok. It was pretty swollen and red and looked raw... Turns out it was - it just took a while.

My dr who did the circ for my first two boys said to use an anitbactical* womb sore cream like polysporin* or nerosporin* . With the third ds the dr said to use vasoline only. His p___s looked reb was vleeding the next day I went back to using the cream cleared it up and have had no problems since. If I find it looks a little red I just use zincofax cream.

It might just be his natural coloring. It does appear sometimes that they have puffy or excess skin, which is completely normal. Max is "pinker" in that area than he is elsewhere. If he gets stuck in a wet diper in a warm carseat for a while , it looks brighter still. I would think that if he had an infection 5wks out, it would be a raging infection - which leads me to believe that this just might be how his p___s looks. Could he be getting irritation from his diaper or a cream you are putting on him?

My ds had the same problem - now at 4 months, everything looks normal. Maybe just keep an eye on it?
