Congested Cough In A 6 5 Month Old Call Pediatrician

My daughter seems to have a congested sounding cough. She doesn't have a runny nose or a congested sound when she breathes. Sorry if this is TMI but it seems like she coughs, then at the end gags a little and I think she's coughing up flem because then she swallows. I know that I sort of gag when I have a flemmy cough like that (haha sorry). Is this something to call the pediatrician about? I'd call anyway but they are currently on their 2 hour lunch, yes... a 2 hour lunch. Which starts at 10 am and goes to 12 pm haha I've never heard of such a thing but whatever. I wouldn't be so worried if it were just a little dry cough but since it's congested I don't know if it could be more than a cough?

If she doesn't have a fever, isn't wheezing or having difficulty breathing, is acting normal and eating etc.. I would wait- YOu an always call your ped to allviate your fears.. but most of the time simple cough/congestion isn't an issue.

A relative of mine that is a pharmacist told me about this one...Her little one had a bad cough, and she rubbed Vicks Vapor Rub on her feet, then put warm socks on, and sent her to bed. She said sure enough within minutes her coughing stopped for the entire night. An old wive's tale that proved to be true! Good luck

Yeah she doesn't have a fever, isn't wheezing or breathing funny, is fine and eating so I'm sure it's nothin to worry about. I'm just going to make sure the cool mist humidifier is on and what not.

I was told that while some lo are teething they can develop was is called a 'smoker's cough' from the amount of saliva they swallow -- my lo has this cough -- eats fine, no temperature, sleepimg well etc... just drooling like a madman! However, my rule of thumb is to run any concerns by the ped! GL -
