Consequences Of Delaying MMR

I keep reading all of these posts about delaying shots. My ds is 4 1/2 months, & thus far has received his vaccinations on time. However, from what little I have read, I do have some reservations about the MMR. I definitely am no where near educated enough on this topic to make this decision yet, but I know that it has been linked w/ autism & delaying the shot can possibly keep my child from getting autism. However, if I do decide to delay the shot, what are some possible consequences? That he gets M, M or R? Thanks.

This is a controversial topic !!!!!....first of all there is no proven link nor have there been studies that show a potential link between the MMR and autism. And second the possible consequences are that he gets M, M or R as you said. You should really talk to your doctor. But to each his own...do you know anyone who developed autism after having the mmr? There are new studies now that are helping in identifying early signs of autism....as early as 6 mos....you would think that if mmr was the cause there would be no babies that young being diagnosed. I can't remember the source, but I think I saw it on CNN...a lady testing 6 mos old babies and showing the difference in responses to stimuli between an autistic child and a normal child.

Oh, I will definitley talk to my dr. if this is even something that I start to seriously consider! I received the MMR, as did my husband & everyone I know, & we are all fine. I definitely don't want to start a huge controversy!!

It can be scary to think or feel that by having your child vaccinated you could have made them sick or worse. Some of those websites out there against vaccination would scare the c___p out of any new mom, including myself. Our generation was vaccinated yet the number of autistic people our age is not nearly what it is in children. There is definitely something going on - one hypothesis is the environment.

here's one of the better sites to look at...the most unbiased I've seen...although one never really knows! add the w w w cdc.gov/od/science/iso/concerns/mmr_autism.htm

I have spoken to my Dr and to my nurse about the link between the MMR and autism, and both say 100% there is no link.
