I have the same problem with my son. He is 4.5 months now. Soy formula made it the worst, cereal also makes him constipated. We now give him one to two ounce of apple prune juice with one ounce of water daily which keeps him regular and softens his movements.

We're trying pear juice once a day and oatmeal and fruit in the morning.

mine has always been this way too, he is 5.5 months, just do the watered down prunce/apple juice each day a little. it is hard when they start cereal and solids because he is not regular some days it is really hard for him to go so i do a little of juice each day

When mine gets that way I cut off the tip of a suppository, and stick it up in there, and hold it for about 5 mins. She eventually poops. This was ok'd by the ER docs where I work, and sometimes I just give her a tablespoon of dark Karo syrup in her milk. That helps too. We only do the supp. deal if she's not c___pped in like 2 days. Good luck!

Depends on how old your son is. Max had a similar problem around three months and they told me to give him juice everyday to keep him regular. If he went more than 3 days w/o a BM to call them. As they get older, they will start to process the formula more effectively and there will be less waste. This usually occurs sometime between 4-6 months. Also rice cereal is very constapating. only give him oatmeal or barley which will produce looser BMs.
