My son is 10 months old and he has never has a problem pooping. We just started the stage 3 foods and I feel that may be part of the problem. I am gonna start giving him juice every day and hope that helps. He is really straining though and cant get anything out. What can I do to help him out to poop easier. I feel so bad for him.

Try giving him prunes (at least that's what helped my dd last time she had hard poops! she's 7 months old.

Hi, my son is almost 3 months old and has chronically constipated since he was about 2 wks old. I've tried many things and he still struggles with pooping and only goes every other day or every 3rd day. I've tried juice 4-6oz every day and that helped for a while, especially pear juice. That seemed to work the best I think. The apple/prune works too but not as well as the pear for us. I've also tried the karo syrup a couple times a day, and nothing seems to make much of a difference, I may have to get a Rx for him. For normal babies, I would just say the juice will probably work maybe even with a couple drops of karo syrup mixed in, but I guess my son is wierd. Good luck.

I will second the pear juice as Ashley said. My ds is almost 8 months old and has always been chronically constipated due to his reflux meds. Also I have no idea if you are stil giving baby cereal, but we mix ours with the pear juice instead of formula as that is a easy way to make sure he gets enough every day.
