My dd, just turned 7 mths yesterday, is constipated. I've been giving her some watered down apple/prune juice and some warm baths to ease her discomfort. It just breaks my heart when she's straining to go then starts wailing. I have a 2 year old who has never been constipated. Any other ideas as to what I can do to help my poor babe out? Thanks in advance.

She's at the age now where you can give her regular amounts of water. I would start out with just a few ounces a day. That will help keep her running full steam.

My doctor recommends giving 1 tablespoon of dark corn syrup (not light) in their bottle. I did this with my son and it helped within a few hours. Just make sure you don't use the light corn syrup because their is a risk of botulism in children under 1 year.

on the internet I researched information on corn syrup, it has been proven not to have a risk of botulism.

Thanks for your input ladies. I'm happy to say that she just took a nice big poop about half an hour ago!
