Contrations After Giving Birth For How Long

it's been 3.5 weeks since i gave birth and i am still having uterine contratcions every couple of days. they hurt and i have been taking motrin. this is my 2nd baby. has anyone else experienced them this late? when should they taper off? i dont remember them lasting this long with my 1st child.

It's a good thing, it means your uterus is trying to shrink back down to size. Are you b___stfeeding? That may prolong them because it releases a hormone that contracts the uterus. Perfectly normal though. They will fade eventually, but there's no set time they should or anything. Mine lasted about 5 weeks, I believe.

Our second child will be 13 weeks (3 months) on Thursday. With my first the pp contractions weren't really noticeable. However, with Nathan, they were horrible and seemed to last forever. At times it felt as if I was in labor all over again and I would be in tears. I think I had them for about 4 weeks pp or so, then, one day they were gone. I am sure the end is near for you. Congratulations on your new addition! How old is your first child? Our daughter will be three in February.

Its unfortunately normal. The nurses in the hospital warned me that the tummy cramps the second time around would be more painful. I hope you feel better soon.
