Coughing Choking Spells

Jadyns Mommy - December 16

Jadyn has done this pretty much since birth but it seems to be more frequent now. Ya know when you are drinking and it goes down the wrong tube and you start choking and your eyes water and you gasp? She does that at least 2-3 times a day now. I thought the bottles were flowing too quickly so I went back to the slow nipples but it hasnt made a difference. Her Grandma says that she is just going to grow out of it but its starting to concern me! She is 7 months now and I want to start her on a sippy cup but it seems to be too fast for her. Has anyone else had this problem?

I can't help you ..sorry.Jesse is 4 months and does this once in a while and every time he does that scares the living sh*t out of me.I am curious to hear other peoples suggestions....I'll wait on them with you..

Amayas Mommy AKA Stephanie - December 16

Ya know Amaya does this with juice. Not formula but with juice. She also chokes on any kind of food (not baby food) but like fruit puffs or fruit or ANYTHING!! I dont know if she will ever be able to eat real food. She does drink from a sippy cup every once in a while but will only drink water from it. (she doesnt have a problem with that) ya know what actually helped her drink from a sippy cup and not choke was drinking from a straw.

Matthew chokes frequently too. Once he scared me so badly I almost called 911 because he wasn't breathing for so long. His doctor told me that it's fairly normal for babies to spit up a little and choke on it, but that doesn't explain choking while eating. I think Matt is just in such a hurry to eat, he goes too fast. I have heard that straws work well for that too.
